As if participating in a book challenge wasn’t enough to get you to frequent the library (hey – why pay for books when someone is letting you borrow them for free?!), the American Library Association has named September as “National Library Card Sign-up Month.”
The ALA is encouraging people to head down to their local libraries and sign up for a library card. Get this – there’s no catch. That’s right – you don’t need to pay a cent (unless you don’t bring your books back) – and you have access to hundreds of books, movies, audio books, and even free digital downloads (ebooks and audio books).
I frequent my local library – I even borrowed this week’s reading (Ender’s Game) from their lovely shelves! Don’t underestimate what your library can offer you. Many have weekly or monthly programs for adults and children alike.
My challenge to you for this month (besides, you know, reading all these books with me), is to get to your library, sign up for your library card, and enjoy the wonderful community that is the library!
